Yesterday, America learned of yet another promise made about Obamacare by the Obama Administration and Mary Landrieu that has turned out to be false.
In a 2009 speech to the annual meeting of the American Medical Association, President Obama said, ”No matter how we reform health care, we will keep this promise: If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period. If you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan. Period. No one will take it away. No matter what.”
In 2009, Mary Landrieu said, “If you like the insurance that you have, you’ll be able to keep it.”
Come to find out, yesterday on Fox News Sunday, Obamacare architect Zeke Emanuel admitted that the Administration had once again lied to the American people.
“The Democratic Party is suffering from a credibility crisis,” said Republican Party of Louisiana spokesperson Ryan Cross. “Mary Landrieu says she’d support Obamacare again, meanwhile it turns out that Louisianians can only keep their doctors if they’re willing to pay more for them. This isn’t what Barack Obama promised and it’s not what Mary Landrieu promised.”
“President Obama famously promised, if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor,” Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace said. “Doesn’t that turn out to be just as false, just as misleading, as his promise about if you like your plan, you can keep your plan?”
“The president never said you were going to have unlimited choice of any doctor in the country you want to go to,” Emanuel said. “…if you want to pay more for an insurance company that covers your doctor, you can do that. This is a matter of choice.”
Wallace went on to point out that this will lead to increased premiums.
“This is once again a failure of Mary Landrieu to be upfront with the people she represents,” Cross said. “She can pivot, ignore or defend Obamacare all she wants. At the end of the day it’s a bad policy for the people of Louisiana and they are prepared to hold her accountable for it.”
