On November 17th, the Republican Party of Louisiana reaffirmed its support for Louisiana Public Service Commission Chairman Eric Skrmetta as he faces re-election on Dec. 6.

Skrmetta was endorsed in the primary by the Republican Party of Louisiana.

“Chairman Skrmetta is the only proven conservative leader in the race who has a record of being a champion for consumers in Louisiana,” LAGOP Chairman Roger Villere said. “Under Chairman Skrmetta’s leadership, Louisiana dropped past 27 other states to have some of the lowest utility rates in the nation.”

In his one term as a public service commissioner, Skrmetta’s accomplishments include:

- Saving rate payers over $4 billion by stringent investigations into the necessity of all proposed rate hikes and denying all those that were deemed unnecessary
- Fought the Obama Administration’s disastrous federal regulations on Louisiana companies
- Pushed utility companies to strengthen pre-storm preparations
- Set higher standards on Louisiana’s taxi industry to promote excellence and quality
- Prevented criminals from threatening witnesses or directing new crimes by protecting prison tele-communication monitoring systems.

“Chairman Skrmetta is a lifelong Republican with the experience and vision necessary to protect Louisiana rate payers and strive for excellence in our utility industry,” Villere said. “We are proud to stand by him and lend him any support necessary to ensure victory on Dec. 6."
