Yesterday, a bipartisan group of 42 Senators sent a letter to the President asking him to send a clear message to unaccompanied minors entering the country illegally that they will not receive special treatment. Mary Landrieu did not sign the letter.
That Senator Landrieu won’t even sign on to a letter asking President Obama to do whatever he can to dispel myths that are leading unaccompanied children to make a dangerous journey to try and enter the country illegally says a lot about how little importance she places on securing our borders.
On the anniversary of the “Gang of Eight” Senate immigration bill that passed a year ago, the LAGOP Executive Director Jason Doré issued the following statement calling into question Landrieu’s commitment to securing our borders and implementing our laws:
“It is unbelievable that Mary Landrieu, who sits on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, has neglected our borders. With thousands of immigrants entering our country unlawfully, it is imperative for the United States to secure our southern border to thwart illegal immigration. After the IRS scandal, the botched rollout of ObamaCare and the problems facing the Veterans Administration, Louisianans can’t count on the big government agenda of Mary Landrieu and Barack Obama to ensure they are enforcing our immigration laws and securing our border.”
