The Republican Party of Louisiana has filed a formal complaint with the Senate Committee on Ethics against Senator Mary Landrieu for her use of taxpayer funds for private campaign flights.
Media reports earlier this summer revealed Landrieu has spent nearly $20,000 of taxpayer funds on private flights for campaign purposes – a clear violation of Federal law.
“Senator Landrieu has shown a regular disregard for taxpayers’ hard earned money and the law by continuing to have taxpayers pick up the bill for her private campaign travel," LAGOP executive director Jason Doré said. "Mary Landrieu’s 17 years as a Washington, D.C. insider and her lockstep support for President Obama’s agenda are catching up with her. It is an affront to Louisiana taxpayers that while they have to pinch pennies to afford massive ObamaCare health insurance rate increases, Senator Landrieu is living the high life and flying around the state on private planes – even when it’s against the law. She needs to be held accountable for her actions, and Louisiana voters will do that this fall.”
